![]() If you are not willing to spend lots of money on a new amp but need decent quality, Planet Audio amplifiers can be the right choice. If the sound power of your system leaves much to be desired, it is high time you got an amplifier that will boost it and provide the listening experience you crave. Unfortunately, many car manufacturers choose pretty simple audio systems for their vehicles, which often don't meet the requirements of those audio enthusiasts who seek to have a mini music hall in their cabins. However, it's better when your favorite tracks are sounding in high quality. If you're looking for a quality amp at an affordable price I can definitely recommend this one.Listening to music while driving is quite enjoyable, especially during long trips. Overall this does a very good job at amplifying the bass and my son really likes it. With that being said, this amp does tend to get hot when run at high levels so you're either going to want to keep it below the halfway mark or you're going to want to make sure you have a fan for it or that it's vented when you install, and since the vents are on the bottom that will take some planning. Just pay attention to the specs so you know what you're actually getting. For the price point this is definitely a good amp. If you do plan on installing this yourself, buy an amp install kit. If you're going to be installing this yourself note that it does come with very good instructions so that is a definite plus. I have noticed it's a lot easier to install these in older cars than it is to install them in newer ones (we do hide the wiring). This one went into my 16 year old son's vehicle. We are currently working on replacing the head units, speakers, amps and subwoofers in all 4 of our vehicles. I use it in a car that has a fair amount of road noise so I generally have my volume turned up (not bumping the bass by any means but it's higher than normal listening volume. This thing gets hot and it gets really hot. That's the reason I'm being harsh and I say that I want to give it a higher rating but can't. If you are completely without experience and don't have tools you'll have a hard time with any amp, but if you are even remotely savvy with DIY tasks, you'll be able to get this guy installed in probably an hour or less. ![]() If you've never done it before it's always a challenge but that's what makes this nice b/c you don't have to dig too deep in your pocket for it in the first place. If you have never installed anything in your vehicle, this is probably a great choice b/c the instructions are probably the clearest and most accurate I've come across. ![]() If you're getting it installed though, installation will likely cost more than the unit unless you're getting other things installed as well. Depending on how familiar you are with audio, cost doesn't always correlate with value proportionately and I would say you get what you pay for and I'd go as far as to say I'd still be satisfied with it if it was double the cost. For the price point this is definitely a strong candidate if you're trying to make up your mind. Here are the main points (others have made them, I strongly agree). It went into a 2004 Infiniti G35 that's mainly my track toy so I was complimenting the manufacturer stereo system, the bose speakers and some two others that I had installed. WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm - I looked at the other reviewers and I really want to like this amp more than I do. The warning is part of our ongoing effort to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as "Proposition 65"). Why do you see the warning on our packaging and website? Proposition 65 warnings can be seen for a wide variety of everyday consumer products, including electronic equipment, and warnings can be seen posted throughout California in a variety of establishments such as buildings, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. The list includes naturally occurring and man-made chemicals. There are over 800 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, which is administered by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. Businesses are required to provide warnings to comply with Proposition 65. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law, but rather a "right-to-know" law. Proposition 65’s warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. Proposition 65 requires warnings if a product contains any listed chemical present above very low levels. Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to companies selling products in California.
